Of course there’s two sides to every shot and mad props have to go to the rider Dane Tiene. He not only had the idea behind this shot but also the balls to pull it off. One little mistake would have had major consequences to say the least.

1. You have to consider what to Wear. Yuya was along the right lines but Kiichi thought he was going surfing.

2. You have to prepare your eyes for the greenery. Don’t like green? Won’t like it here.

3. When contemplating an afternoon beer you have to be aware that no one may be around to pour it for you.

4. When trying to mix with the locals you have to evaluate the look you have going at the time. I think she digs it…….

If you’re starting to think about checking out online magazines a good place to start is New Zealand Snowboarder who have just put an issue online for the first time. Will online magazines be for everyone? Probably not, but there’s no denying we’ll be seeing more and more magazines follow suit and boost their internet presence.

Its Crazy how quick a season comes to an end. Today was my last day up on the hill at Mammoth resort and i’ll be packing up and heading to Los Angeles tomorrow. Whether i’ll be able to fly home is yet to be figured out, i’ll have to see what that volcano is doing over in Iceland……

The feature is from back in July on the glacier at Les Deux Alpes at Kumi Yama. Hopefully we should be seeing some more shots from this session run over the next month so i’ll keep my eyes out for them.

Sticking with the skiing theme, this weekend past really well considering the weather here in London. I was at London Freeze watching Australian skier Russ Henshaw destroy the field scoring an almost perfect 99 points! Double grab, double cork 1260 – not quite your standard stuff!

On Friday i rented a Tilt Shift lens from Calumet Photo bringing about some cool results. Here’s a shot of the setup through the eyes of the tilt shift. Loads more stuff has come out of Freeze, in amongst the mountain of work i’ll try and update you during the week.

Looking down at the beautiful snow covered mountains it seemed strange to be heading to London…..for snowboarding. So here i am, after another night on a bench in Zurich i’ve made it to London. Freeze time!

Its a good time to start getting stoked for the up and coming winter and this video comes at a perfect time for people attending London Freeze this weekend. I was asked only yesterday to go and shoot the event for Bravoski with Japan being represented by skier Shinji Osada. Here’s a photo of Shinji i took back in July up on the glacier at Les Deux Alpes.

So yeah, my bags aren’t quite packed but will be jetting back to the UK tomorrow with a brief 12 hour stint to look forward to in Zurich – the pitfalls of booking a ticket so late! check back next week for a review of the weekends events. The last weekend has just passed here in Les Deux Alpes where i’ve been basking in sunlight at an awesome winter event. I’d received my invite a few months ago to take part in the photo and graphic contest that was part of the weekends schedule. Things didn’t start well as my snowboard bag went astray during the flight and i had to hitch a lift to the mountains as i realised there was no way to get where i was going from the airport.

Once i got over here though everything fell in to place. The contest, vibe, organisation and the people were all awesome and watching some of the teams fight it out over the super original course was so much fun.

The photo contest was a hard fought battle and i was amazed at some of the graphic designs on display at the gallery evening. My graphic designer was over in England and considering not one phone call was shared between us i was stoked with the outcome.
