Advancements in modern technology have made making videos possible on almost any device. When travelling i have the opportunity to film HD movies on my Canon S95 as well as make timelapses or even full movies with my Canon 5d Mark II. Sometimes commissioned, but often for my own viewing pleasure, these give a great insight to my life out on the road.
VILLARS TIMELAPSE
This timelapse video was made with my Canon 5d Mark II and Tamron 28-75 lens with an intervalometer taking shots throughout the period of 24 hours. The majority of footage from the day proved uninspiring but towards late evening a storm front came in with these crazy clouds forming over Mont Blanc in the distance.
THE ROAD TO THE X-GAMES
2011 was a year where the little Canon S95 rarely left my hands. It has some great functions to play with including a mini tilt shift recording options. Now, for anything too serious the flaws in the recording would surely shine through, but for this delve into my life whilst travelling, it’s priceless.
DENVER TO NISEKO
Straight after the X-Games i was invited to join Level 1 Productions in Japan. With my previous attempt fresh in my mind i did exactly the same and produced a mini, fast moving account of my travels from Denver, Colorado to Niseko, Japan.
LONDON FREEZE WITH SHINJI OSADSA
This video comes with a warning: The dialogue is in Japanese! This video was produced for Bravoski Japan and featured the London Freeze event as seen through Japanese skier Shinji Osada’s eyes. This was my first attempt at both capturing and editing a video short and was shot entirely on the Canon 5D Mark II
BRECKENRIDGE TO MAMMOTH
Over the last few years i’ve jumped at the opportunity to travel by train rather than flying. This was my first time on the Amtrak trains travelling across the States and i produced a photo slideshow of every step along the way.
