Playing with the Leica S2

Posted by admin on 25 Oct 2011 / 0 Comment

It’s not everyday that you get the ability to loan a £21,000 camera system. Whilst in Annecy the other week i gladly took advantage of being in a position to try such a camera and took the Leica S2 out for a picnic by the lake.

IF3 Experience

Posted by admin on 18 Oct 2011 / 0 Comment

It’s take me a week or so to recover from the carnage that was IF3 ski film festival over in Annecy, France. It was a weekend that brought together filmmakers, athletes and the fans to watch and enjoy the offerings from this years movie companies. I made a little album of some shots over on my facebook fan page which you can check out and also wrote a pseudo acceptance speech for the guys over at ESPN.

As i’d mentioned in an earlier post there was a photographic element to this weekend with awards being given for Best European Photographer as well as Best Picture. Now i’d been shortlisted down to the final 8 for best photographer and during the awards ceremony my nerves built up until the award was announced. Alas, it was not to be my year as i just missed out coming in second place.

5 minutes later i found out that i’d won the best picture and was more than happy to collect my award. All planned thanks and recognition to anyone that had helped me this season went out the window as i bumbled my way through accepting tit, but what the hell it was a night to enjoy. Ordering pizza and champagne at 1 in the morning, sat around with my friends reflecting on a great weekend in France was the icing on the cake.

Thanks a lot IF3 Annecy, can’t wait for next year.

Annecy Arrival

Posted by admin on 30 Sep 2011 / 1 Comment

I made the journey across from Geneva yesterday, leaving from a train station called Geneve Eaux-Vives. I’ve spent quite a long time in Geneva now this summer, so i know that its actually beautiful but If this was my first impressions of the city, then i’d probably get on the first train out of there! What are they thinking? Crazy stuff from the Swiss.

“Welcome to Geneva!”

I’ve just been informed that Annecy is just about the most photographed town outside of Paris, and I can see why. Tourism Annecy have put me up in the most beautiful of settings and I’m looking forward to the next three days here. In this never ending summer, I actually just went for a swim in the lake. I’m pretty sure it’s October tomorrow. Why oh why did I not pack my flip flops?

I’m off for a preview of the photo gallery (although I did sneak a peak last night). I think it looks amazing but feel that there’s stringer work there than mine. Regardless I’m going to have a great weekend, take in everything Annecy has to offer and watch a fair few movies!

IF3 Weekend Awaits.

Posted by admin on 28 Sep 2011 / 0 Comment

This weekend all eyes of the ski industry get focused on Annecy, France for a weekend of movies, parties, business talk and an awards ceremony at IF3. I’m heading over tomorrow before the festivities kick off and will try and keep you updated a little over the weekend on its progress.

One exciting addition to this years awards evening is an award for best European photographer. We were required to make a submission during the summer and 8 photographers were selected for a gallery during the event, with the title going to one at Saturday nights ceremony. My submission was shortlisted so will be keeping my fingers crossed for Saturday night!
