The pictures that were aired over tv networks of the recent riots in Athens may have been enough to keep some foreign visitors away from Greece this summer. With talks of a Greek crisis you would have thought that visiting there would be crazy. I had a chance to visit the city this week en route back to the UK and decided to take my camera for a quick walk around. With a distinct lack of any tear gas on display i focused my attention on some of the street art as i wandered around in the sweltering heat admiring some of the great work on display.

Towards the end of last week i got the chance to visit San Francisco for the first time. Time was limited to pretty much one day and after the 27 hour train journey over from Colorado my legs were ready to take on the hills of the city.

It’s going to be a while before i get chance to sort through the images from that day, but in the meantime here’s a little snapshot.

I still think the train is the best form of transport for crossing America.

I’ve just returned from a camping trip down to Devon, a coastal resort in the south of England. Catching up for the weekend with friends i don’t see often enough was great fun even though there was zero waves, not that i can actually surf.

I decided to take down my camera with a 30 year old Pentax 50mm lens attached to see how it worked out with the 5D. I made some alterations to the lens (read; snapped bits off) to make it work and although it may be slightly quirky (aperture is now stuck on f2), i’m happy with the results.

A cheap ebay adaptor and my lens i’ve owned for 18 years becomes good as new
