“La Bise” is a notorious cold and dry wind that originates in northeastern Switzerland. It blows along the ridge of the Jura mountains and reaches its peak intensity on the western shores of Lac Leman, around the Geneva area. In winter, the strong gusts of La Bise can cause crashing waves and frigid temperatures that create stunning formations of ice on the lake's surface.
